I'm curious as to how you all go over the reading notes after the kids have read and took notes from the text. How much time do you spend on talking about the notes?

I spend about five minutes the following day reviewing the notes.  I have the answers already written down on an overhead.  I just got a document reader, so I guess I won't be using overhead transparencies much longer.  As I go over the answers, the students either underline in red (if their answer matches mine) or add in red (if they are missing information).  If the information is really important to state standards, I might spend more than five minutes.  I don't leave the information up long enough for those that didn't do it all to copy everything.  Although if a student does try to copy it all down, he/she has to write in red pen, so I know the work was not done on time.

I also like to go over the reading notes in the beginning of class.  I call on the first group/pair and then they call on the next group and so on.  This keeps everyone on their toes and helps me make corrections when they are incorrect.
