I have been a TCI trainer since 2004, and an occasional TCI writer and curriculum consultant since 2007. In my teaching career I have taught second, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades in the Tampa, Florida area. I have been using TCI Social Studies Alive materials to enrich and empower students' lives for 7 years. I have a master's degree in educational leadership and have enjoyed building the online community of Social Studies Alive! users. I am really excited to be your elementary moderator. I am looking forward to growing our online community and learning from each of you how you are making your classrooms come alive for students. I know with our collective genius we can collaborate, support, and inspire one another and ultimately be more effective with our students. I'll be throwing out topics and ideas for us to reflect about on a regular basis, but do not hesitate to ask questions, post ideas, offer feedback and stay involved. Make sure you check back often so you can stay connected. |

Dear Abigal, I have a list of books that we have put together at our school to be used with each lesson in the first grade curriculum from TCI. I would like to share that with everyone. I will try and attach it from school tomorrow. Susan Almeida |

Susan, That is great! Thanks so much for sharing. I too have a list of grade 1 titles I put together for a school district a year or so ago. It will be interesting to compare. I will have to post mine too! |

WOW! What a great time we are all having at TCI conference. My district is very excited to implement this program into our elementary, middle and high schools. The TCI approach is very inovative and really addresses children's needs and learning styles. I cant wait to bring Social Studies alive for my fourth graders! |

Hi Christine, If you click on the curriculum program tab on the web site and find your grade level there is a drop down list of potential resources. Book are on the list. You can search chapter by chapter or look at the entire book. There are at least three book titles for each chapter. I am certain also that other teachers may have their own list too, and hopefully another grade two teacher will respond and share. |
